New Business Model.

New User Experience!

Timeular, Austria. 2021

The Goal

Timeular underwent a transition in its business model:

The adorable hardware tracker would now serve as an optional add-on rather than a prerequisite for accessing the paid features of the app.

To execute this transition effectively, we needed to:

  1. Categorize PRO features based on user types, ensuring that users pay for precisely what they require, no more and no less.

  2. Present users with various subscription plans offering access to the PRO features.

  3. Develop a billing page to facilitate the management of monthly bills and payment methods.

  4. Clearly indicate that the tracker is optional and specify that it does not include the PRO plan of the software.

Workflow changes

The flow needed to be updated to accommodate the new potential scenarios. Users could either have or not have a paid plan, and certain features might be unavailable. We had to devise an experience for them that would enable them to comprehend the functionalities, how they could access them, and the value they would derive from them.

We also considered incorporating a referral points system, where inviting friends would allow users to earn discounts and promote the pro plan on specific occasions.

User Profile: Plans & Billing

Here's how the user profile design looked without a plan and with a plan. Additionally, with an active plan, we needed to introduce a new billing section where users could view previous payments, card information, and have the option to modify their details.

Additionally, we heightened awareness about the Timeular Mobile App. Despite the reported need to record on multiple devices, a significant portion of users weren't utilizing the mobile app. Furthermore, in response to this, I designed a modal to promote the mobile app.

Tracker as add-on

I also designed a dedicated page to sell the tracker as an add-on. We aimed for it to have a more e-commerce appearance, clearly distinguishing it from the software.
